I do have to say, while I think the Mel story is interesting I wish she wasn’t so separated from the main story, like I wanted to see her interact with Jayce and Caitlyn and Vi but she’s probably not gonna show up in Piltover again till the finale in ep 9.
Like I trust them to resolve it well enough, but I really wish we could’ve seen her reaction to Cait’s radicalization under her mother’s tutelage, or her talking to Jayce post-hexcore and seeing how he’s changed, or seeing her be more involved in running the city; like, is Shoola just running Piltover alone while Cait hunts Jinx? We basically don’t check in on topside during eps 4 through 6, we don’t even have an update on the effects of Jinx’s gas attack.
I mean, it’s cool to see this whole new plotline with her sibling and her mother’s mistakes coming back to haunt her (I *love* a storyline where you are doomed by your parent’s mistakes), but what about her previous arc wrestling with her legacy and trying for peace? What about her relationship with Jayce? Season one ended with her rejecting her mother and her legacy as a daughter of conquest and trying for peace, only for it to blow up in everyone’s face. I really wanted to see the evolution of that but it feels like that got stopped in it’s tracks for this Black Rose plotline. Mel’s story feels so in the air to me (along with Ekko) and I really hope they’re able to wrap it up nicely with just three more eps.
